The Great World Race is organised by Ice Cap Adventures Ltd. The CEO of the company and Race Director of the event is David Kelly. A doctor and former Irish x-country international runner, he has travelled to the North Pole and Antarctica on numerous occasions to medically oversee endurance competitions. David has a medical degree from Trinity College Dublin and an Accountancy Degree from University of Galway, Ireland. Dave will be accompanied with a travelling support team of top professionals, all with extensive international experience that includes the polar regions. Among them, photographers and cameramen who will ensure every special marathon moment is captured for competitors and global media.

In addition to the travelling support team, Ice Cape Adventures has expert logistical support and marathon partners at each marathon venue.

WOLF'S FANG, ANTARCTICA

The first marathon of The Great World Race takes place at Wolf’s Fang runway, Antarctica. For most participants, it will be the first time they cross into the Antarctic Circle and set foot on the ‘frozen continent’, a truly momentous occasion. The runway is situated at 71 Degrees South latitude on the Antarctica continental landmass, directly south of Cape Town. The picturesque, non-technical, and groomed 20km loop marathon course is operated in the vicinity of the runway and allows competitors the opportunity to embrace Antarctica in all its glory.

CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA

Top Events, a Cape Town-based company, is a leading organiser of running and other sports competitions in South Africa and beyond. Under the leadership of Andrew Bell, the company arranges event permissions, course measurement, aid stations and a race-day support team for the African leg of The Great World Race.

PERTH, AUSTRALIA

Cundy Sports Marketing is operated by Dave Cundy, who served as Race Director of the marathon races at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Dave is a Grade A course measurer and has measured many famous courses including the London Marathon. Dave has also served as Vice President of AIMS (Association of International Marathons & Distance Races) and has been a Race Director of the Canberra Marathon, Great Wall Marathon, Great Hakka Marathon, Australian Outback Marathon and Technical Director of both the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore and the Gold Coast Marathon, Australia. His company coordinates with West Australian Marathon Club to secure event permissions, course measurement, and all aspects of operating the Australian leg of The Great World Race.

ISTANBUL, ASIA & EUROPE

Istanbul Sports Events and Management Trade Inc (Spor Istanbul) organises the Istanbul Marathon, the only intercontinental marathon in the world and a World Athletics elite label road race. The company is a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, tasked with organising national and international sports competitions among its priority activities. Under the leadership of General Manager Renay Onur, Spor Istanbul will arrange both the Asian and European legs of The Great World Race, using scenic courses on each side of the Bosphorus Strait.

CARTAGENA, SOUTH AMERICA

Posso Sports / Posso International Promotions Inc is a leading sports management agency on the global stage. Luis Posso, the company’s Founder and President, has been a full-time sports agent since 1988. His business has expended to offices in Bogotá, Prague, Milan, Panama and Nairobi. Luis, who is a Colombian-born US citizen, arranges course measurement, permissions and operation of the South American leg of The Great World Race.

MIAMI, NORTH AMERICA

Continental Event & Sports Management Group LLC is one of the premiere sports management companies in the United States. Robert Pozo, the company’s Executive Race Director, was founder of the ING Miami Marathon. Along with his wife Gaby, they have over 20 years experience in the race production industry providing unparalleled events to participants and their host communities, including the Divas Running Series and Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon. The company arranges permission, course measurement, support teams, timing, and operation of the North American leg of The Great World Race.
